Manchester is a city in the north west of the uk. It was granted city status in 1853 and now has a huge population of over 450,000. Manchester is the 3rd biggest conurbation in the uk and it's also the 3rd most popular city to be visited by foreign tourists.

Manchester rose to prominence during the Industrial Revolution, which is when the city became the world leader in production & textile manufacture. the city is proud of its industrial history and a number of the mills that were used during the industrial era have been converted into offices and flats.

The city is also a centre of commerce, technology & science. It has three universities and is well-known as the home of the Baby computer, which changed the face of modern computing.

Although the city still has many beautiful Victorian buildings such as the town hall and Central Library, it also boasts numerous elementary buildings. many of these architecture were built after the city was attacked by a terrorist bomb in 1996.

Manchester has many things to do, which contain some marvellous galleries and museums, which are really lively to explore.

These include the mosi, which tells the history of Manchester's rich industrial past. The museum hosts touring exhibitions too, and recently held the infamous bodyworlds 4 exhibit. The city's perfect art art galleries include the nexus gallery, which boasts some excellent pieces.

Manchester also boasts some pretty park spaces, so you can enjoy a wholesome day trip there.

Manchester is renowned for its exciting shops, which cater to every taste. Indeed, you'll find everything in the city, from high-end designer outlets for instance harvey nicks to high-street retailers for instance new look & HMV.
