Great Wall of China Tourist Attraction

Now, if you have traveled to China for a vacation or business trip, people inevitably ask if you have visited the Great Wall of China? Why is a tourist attraction in China so attractive? It is because if you did not ido to visit the Great Wall of China, China is losing its holiday lot. Here is why.The Great Wall of China is an integral feature of the geography of northern China and has captured the imagination of people throughout his long and distinguished history or some people may wish to think of as their notorious history. The Chinese call this magnificent wall Wan Li Chang Cheng when translated literally means Wall of Ten Thousand Li. A Li is a Chinese measurement of distance as a mile or kilometer. The Great Wall of China saw its first construction fragmented from the fifth century BC to 16 century AD as a strategic deterrent against the raids, looting and even invasions of nomadic northern tribes that the Chinese at that time regarded as hostile barbarians. When Chinese are unified under Emperor Qin Shi Huang Shi Huangdi, or in 221 BC, the first emperor of China began building the Great Wall of China to protect the border northern towns and villages against the Huns, Xiong Nu tribe. The words Xiong Nu when directly translated from Chinese literally means fierce Fury. You can imagine how the Chinese was so fearful of this tribe with such labelling name. The Xiong Nus were finally driven to the far corners of the remote Gobi desert in China after 3 military search and destroy dispatches . Even then, no walls to stop the invasion of China by the Mongols (Yuan Dynasty) and the Manchurians (Ching dynasty). Historical records show that the largest number 300000 men working for ten years in the first phase of construction of the wall. Stories of hardship and thousands of tragic deaths suffered by workers recruited are passed to prove that Shi Huangdi was a hated tyrant.Constructed mainly with bricks and masonry, the wall was built by the Chinese rulers of 10 dynasties and the length of the wall , Meanders through mountains and valleys an incredible total of 25000 km or nearly 16000 miles long.Since the decade of 1950, five parts of the wall have been restored and like most tourists, I visited the wall section Badaling an afternoon of winter in Nankou Pass after a visit to the Ming Tombs. I was amazed with the structure of the wall, as well as the fantastically impressive landscapes and winter landscape. The second most popular access to the Great Wall is through Mutianyu, northeast of Beijing in Huairou County. The advantage of visiting the Great Wall of China from this point is that it is less crowded that access Badaling. Is it surprising then that tourists who visit China usually include a trip touring the majestic Great Wall of China?
