Each month of September Asti celebrates its victory in a medieval battle against Alba in a bareback horse race that is preceded by a medieval pageant. You'll also want to see the city from the rest of towers, the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta (Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral), and Gothic St. Secondo Church.In 1986 in the city of Piedmont Barolo Carlo Petrini founded the Slow Food Association to protest against the opening of a MacDonald's in Rome.
