Time to Explore Your Own Backyard

Most Americans are very accustomed to jump into the family car and taking a tour of one day or a weekend vacation to some nearby landmark. There is something about the car and going that makes us feel that we had a mini-vacation! Not surprisingly, many people are more familiar with recreational and cultural offerings 90 minutes away from where they own their homes than they are with similar resources in their own backyard. Once again, it is not surprising that gas prices are causing millions of families to reconsider travelling distance of his home for leisure and recreation. This trend could be an excellent change for communities and homeowners. Most cities of any size have tourist attractions that bring people from afar. However, the premises may never visit those sites unless they are entertaining out-of-town guests. For example, this writer lives about an hour away from the Bay Area and San Francisco, luscious and the famous city of Bahia. It was easy to dash off for a weekend to visit museums, see people, have dinner and take our out-of-state visitors. At the same time, we live in California's capital. People come to Sacramento to look very beautiful capital building, visiting many historic sites and enjoy the specialized museums. I must admit there are many of these destinations I have not seen. Now, with the cost of gas that cause pain at the pump and Sacramento to be a very bicycle friendly community, we are rethinking the resources at our house town.By leave the car home and find alternative transportation - perhaps rent a moped for a day or dare to rollerblade city streets - could create an experience that makes a trip around his hometown seems more like a mini-vacations that you need. For people throughout the county Internet has made it really easy to dig into the opportunities and attractions where they live. From the comfort of your home office may seek city government websites, chambers of commerce and local tourism offices. There are sites that provide interactive video attractions, comments from passengers, completes the list of local festivals and cultural activities that you can save time and money at the same time opening new doors to their local community. As they say optimists, with each new challenge comes opportunity. Perhaps rising gas prices may make us all more connected to where we live. All it takes is a change of perspective. Think of yourself as an out-of-town visitors and map out a day of exploration. To make it even more unusual and beyond the routine, see if you can take public transportation or riding a bicycle. Take advantage of adversity to pump gas to discover the pleasures of his hometown.
