Saint Kitts As A Holiday Destination In The Caribbean

Most people know that Saint Kitts is a Caribbean Island without realising it is situated in the Eastern Caribbean about 1200 miles from Miami, 4000 miles from London, and 1600 miles from New York St Kitts is 69 square miles with a population of around 32000 and the capital is Basseterre.

Saint Kitts is a beautiful island , with great weather, the sea is warm and there are lovely white sand beaches in the South and black Volcanic sand beaches in the North, and this combination makes it a very attractive destination for a Caribbean vacation. It is a relatively undeveloped island so St Kitts is relatively unspoiled and not crowded at all.

It is a great place for lovers of nature, and people who like active holidays, and not sitting on a beach. There are a variety of tours through lava formations, tropical forest areas and absolutely stunning tropical lagoons for those energetic folk.

You can easily take boat trips, go scuba diving or snorkelling if you'd rather be on the water.

Saint Kitts has a number of really small towns with some beautiful Colonial architecture if it is culture you are after.

Best of all St Kitts is the place to go for a quiet vacation, in what many people describe as paradise.

St Kitts has not only hotels and resorts, but Condos and Villas, Plantation Inns, and Bed and breakfast lodgings, so the range of choice and price is immense. To be fair St Kitts Hotels cater very much for the middle range tourist with middle range prices and some large hotels in the south. It means that you can have a fairly decent holiday here at a good price, but a good piece of advice would be to look North, where there are a couple of excellent Plantation Hotels in restored and historic buildings. They are as good as you will find anywhere in the Caribbean for atmosphere and comfort.

St Kitts rises from the Caribbean in green clad slopes ending in cloud topped hills, soaring to over 3500 feet, that are a striking contrast to the blue turquoise sea..

There are two halves to St Kitts, and they are totally distinct from each other. The north is very green and lush with steep slopes, and the coastline is dotted with little villages, churches, windmills, and smallholdings, all very typically Saint Kitts Caribbean. No more sugar cane is grown, but there is still evidence of its recent demise.

The south of the Island over the hill from Basseterre everything changes. Here we come to the tourist heartland at Frigate Bay, where the beach is lined with hotels, and in fact on both coasts there are hotels and villa complexes along the shore. It is here the island's golf course is found, and the watersports which are mostly on the Caribbean, and warmer side. The south side is much flatter and drier, so it isn't as lush as the North of Saint Kitts.

Saint Kitts is different, it has many charms, there are some reasonably priced St Kitts Hotels, and you should have a decent Caribbean Vacation here.
